KANSAS CITY -- It did not take long for Ichiro Suzuki to reach the 200-hit milestone again on Saturday night.
Suzuki entered the game against the Royals with 198 hits and the Mariners outfielder singled in his first two at-bats to arrive at 200. Ichiro lined a single off Mark Redman to lead off the game. Ichiro's 200th hit was a liner to left-center to start the third.
It is the sixth straight season for Ichiro to reach 200 hits.
Willie Keeler holds the Major League record with eight straight 200-hit seasons from 1989-1901. Wade Boggs holds the American League record with seven consecutive 200-hit seasons from 1983-89.
Ichiro's hits in his first two at-bats on Saturday brought his career total to 1,330. He is averaging 221 hits a season in his career.
Ichiro broke another American League record when he stole third base in the third inning. It was his 33rd consecutive swipe without being caught. Ichiro has not been caught since April 19. Willie Wilson of the Royals held the AL record with 32 straight steals without being caught in 1980.
